On March 20, 1969, John and Yoko were married at a ceremony in Gibraltar, a little over one week after Paul and Linda tied the knot in London.

Rooftop Concert
Ultimately, the idea to record everything in one take fell through, as did the idea to play a live show at a London club. Still the group needed a way to create a finale for the film that Lindsay-Hogg had been asked to make, so they hit upon the idea of performing on the roof of the headquarters of their newly formed company, Apple. Though it was a frigid day, the band turned in an outstanding performance, reminding everyone why they they had gotten together in the first place.

Paul and Linda
The death of Epstein opened the door to a nettlesome discussion of who would handle the band’s affairs going forward. Paul favored bringing in the father and brother of his soon-to-be wife, Linda McCartney, while John advocated for Allen Klein, who, though of dubious reputation, had handled acts like Sam Cooke and the Rolling Stones.

Harmony / Disharmony
In late 1969, the Beatles had largely finished making the initial recordings for the songs that would become the albums Let it Be and Abbey Road. By that time, though, artistic differences had been eating away at the band for several years. John Lennon and Paul McCartney no longer collaborated as closely as they once did, while George Harrison resented the way the group was slow to take his songwriting seriously.
